I Thought I Had Built a Good Life… Until I Noticed What Was Missing (Part 2)

I wasn’t trying to change anything.

It just happened.

I found myself walking through a quieter part of the city. Less noise. Less rush.

That’s when I noticed a small flower shop. It had probably been there for years.

I had just never looked at it closely.

I walked in without overthinking. The place was simple.

No attempt to impress, no exaggerated decoration. Just a calm environment.

She was there, organizing a few things. When she looked at me, there was nothing unusual in her reaction. No curiosity. No recognition.

Just attention.

“Do you need anything?” she asked.

It was a normal question. But I hesitated more than I expected. I bought something small and left. But the feeling stayed with me. Not something big.

Just… different enough to notice.

I went back a couple of days later.

Then again the following week. Not for a specific reason.

I just didn’t mind being there. We started talking casually.

Short conversations at first. Nothing personal.

But it felt… easy.

She never tried to figure me out. Never asked what I did.

Never changed her behavior. That made me feel more comfortable than I expected.

One day, she said something that caught me off guard.

“You seem like you’re always thinking about something else.”

I smiled and changed the subject.

But it stayed with me.
